DMEA’s Annual Haunted Halloween Festival
The DMEA hosted its annual Haunted Halloween Festival at Memorial Field in October.
This DMEA event was a resounding success, thanks in no small part to our partners, who provided food, games, a birds-of-prey display, and our haunted forest decorating talent. But the biggest thanks goes to all the party-goers, including costumed dogs, children, and adults! They made the party a true community event.
Community Halloween in Zion’s Graveyard
We were able and eager to join Zion Episcopal Church’s Spooky Halloween Graveyard Drive-Thru on October 31st. The day was a delight as so many community groups participated, and scores of friends and families lined up in their cars to drive through this historic church graveyard, collect their bags of candy, and enjoy the array of decorations and costumed characters walking around. Halloween means so much to children and to see happy adults and children delighting from the safety of their cars was truly heartwarming.
Douglaston LDC’s Holiday Festival
The DMEA also participated in the Douglaston LDC’s Holiday Festival at the Douglaston Plaza. Despite the wintry weather, protective tents enabled participants to stay dry and get into the holiday mood with music, food, shopping, and great friendship. Befitting the wintry weather was the addition of fresh French baked items to the DMEA’s usual offering of hot mulled drinks. DMEA has continued to participate in this enjoyable and joyous annual holiday event.
